On April 3rd, 2010 in the City of Iron Mountain, Michigan a lock was found cut on the cities water reservoir. The State of Michigan DNR or DEQ recommended a IMMEDIATE BOIL ADVISORY for the whole city. It took our Health Dept a total of SIX HOURS to contact MAYBE 30 restaurants in town. SIX HOURS!!! The water Boil Advisory went into Immediate effect at 1:30pm on Saturday afternoon. By 3:30 Local Radio and News Papers got the warning out because the city sent them press releases.. According to some local restaurants, they received their warning to STOP serving water and fountain drinks between 5:30pm - 7:30pm. The Health Department confirmed that McDonald's was ORDERED to stop at 7:30pm. I RECORDED McDONALD'S PRETTY CLOE TO 10:00PM???? This is a SMALL town in Upper Michigan, we are 100 miles North of Green Bay, Wisconsin. I am concerned about the RESPONSE TIME for this HEALTH DEPARTMENT. It took them over SIX HOURS to contact NO more than 30 Restaurants. That would be 5 per hour were notified.. How can anybody in this small town NOT be concerned over our SAFETY? They should be held accountable for their actions OR LACK OF I SHOULD SAY,,,,,, This Health Department stated after this Advisory was over that McDonald's may have been a little slow to act, they finally did.. Sure they did- OVER EIGHT HOURS LATER!!!
